ABOUT ELLEN PIPER DESIGNS
Our Story
Ellen Piper Designs was born from a shared dream and deep-rooted love for celebrating women. Founded by myself, Allisah Kalen, and my dear friend Liz Porter, our brand’s name holds personal meaning—“Ellen” is Liz’s daughter and “Piper” is my younger sister. Both girls have special needs, and both inspire us daily with their strength, joy, and beauty. This brand is a tribute to them—and to every woman who deserves to feel radiant, seen, and celebrated.
I’ve dreamed of designing since I was a little girl growing up in Opelika, Alabama. After studying at Auburn University and refining my craft through couture training at Made Institute, I knew I wanted to create more than clothing—I wanted to create confidence. I’m a maximalist at heart, but my true passion lies in helping others discover their sparkle in something that feels uniquely theirs.
Ellen Piper Designs grew from a beautiful evolution. Liz and I first found success through women’s formalwear at John’s Alterations & Formalwear. As demand grew, we realized the need for a space dedicated solely to women—so we reimagined our vision and launched Ellen Piper. Now, while John’s continues to serve the men, Ellen Piper is a space women can call their own—where the experience is just as memorable as the dress.
From bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses to prom, pageant, and custom creations, our goal is to help every woman feel stunning for life’s most special moments. Because to us, it’s more than just a dress—it’s the memory you make in it, and how you feel when you wear it.
We are proudly veteran owned; 100% women-founded, owned, and operated; and fully inclusive. Our mission is simple: to help every woman feel beautiful and empowered—no matter her background, size, style, or story.
Though we started in a small college town, our vision is bold—we can’t wait to bring the Ellen Piper experience to women everywhere. Because here at Ellen Piper, we believe there is beauty in everyone. We’re just here to help you find it—and celebrate it in style.
